THURSDAY, MARCH 22, 2001 • KUDZU HOCKEY LEAGUE
TELLERMATE vs. KUDZU

Tellermate 9 • Kudzu 12

ATLANTA, GA – Originally scheduled as a match vs. the Buffaloes, a surprised Tellermate squad found out they would be facing the undefeated Kudzu house team. The same house team that had embarrassed them in their previous meeting. The same house team that seems susceptible only to tactics not sanctioned by the NHL and illegal in 22 states. But fear was not on the menu this evening. Instead, Tellermate was looking for revenge-- notoriously, a dish best served cold. However, tonight's offering was a bit lukewarm.

Tellermate got on the scoreboard first, and kept the game close through the first ten minutes or so, before Kudzu went on a goal scoring spree. Down by three, Tellermate fought for control in Kudzu territory. As the ball threatened to slide back into the neutral zone, Greg "Cum On Feel the Noise" Rolnick took a step forward, and launched a bullet of a shot through traffic and past the Kudzu keeper.

Going into the half, Tellermate was down by five (9-4), but not down for the count.

The second half belonged to Rolnick, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to put Tellermate over the top.

Early in the second, Rolnick threw a no-look-behind-the-back pass to his winger, who went in and beat the goalie. A few plays later, Rolnick fielded a pass in the slot, and firing an off-balance blast, watched as the ball trickled past the befuddled net minder. Finally, with Tellermate trailing 11-8, Rolnick slammed home a rebound to record his third hat trick in as many games!

The two teams took an unofficial timeout while the maintenance crew cleared hundreds of baseball caps off the rink.

The final buzzer signaled the end of an improbable (and unfortunately unsuccessful) comeback attempt, but this time around Tellermate did not hang their heads on the way off of the rink.

Next week team Tellermate will face either the Aeros or the Buffaloes in a final match before the playoffs, and Rolnick will attempt the impossible: 4 games, 12 goals.

so STAY TUNED!!!
