TEAM 2 vs. BAR LOUIE

In our previous installment, I had challenged you to come up with a new name for the unimaginatively monikered, Team 2. I received a number of responses, and some of them were even pretty good. Unfortunately, the team hasn't reached a consensus yet, so I'll wait till next Tuesday to publish the list and let you know what we've decided to go with. As such, you can still send in suggestions if the muse hits you...

Team 2 (good guys) 6 - Bar Louie (bad guys) 10

CHICAGO, IL - Riding somewhat high from their last victory, Team 2 came to play with an attitude and even a game plan. Unfortunately, so did the part time drunks of Bar Louie. Not even the advice of former Chicago Blackhawk, Joe Murphy, could push the men of Team 2 over the top.

Bar Louie jumped into the lead early in the match, when their number one forward slid in and out of Team 2's defenders like an Olympic slalom run champion. Quickly down by two goals, Greg "I put the F & U back in deFensive Unit" Rolnick, decided to once again rally the troops. Deftly stealing the puck from an oncoming evil forward, Rolnick fired a slap shot from the red line directly at the goalie's noggin. In a case of opportunistic providence, one of Team 2's sneaky forwards pushed the rebound into the back of the net, while the Bar Louie goalie wondered where that ringing sound was coming from.

Going into the second half, Team 2 was down 5-4. When Bar Louie extended their lead to two, Rolnick came flying in off the bench, his eyes blazing red like the jersey now encasing the Dominator. Throwing his body in front of a Bar Louie slap shot, Rolnick stopped the puck, scooped it onto his stick and slid a perfect pass up rink to his speedy forward (who then proceeded to deke out the Bar Louie goalie and notch another assist for Rolnick).

Rolnick even made a few forays back into his former offensive zone stomping grounds. After being denied on a one-on-one, he sheepishly slipped back behind the red line and directed the action from his own end.

The final minutes of the match were marred by a Team 2 mental collapse, allowing Bar Louie to notch three unanswered goals, which eventually ended the game 10-6.

This intrepid reporter's attempts at post-game comments were shaken off by Team 2, who had seemingly been watching too many tapes of John Rocker getting hounded by the buzzards of the press. However, at 1-2, Team 2 is merely one game below .500, and looks to even things up next week against Team "Anything."

SO STAY TUNED!!!
